Title

Editorial "History is not restricted by race, gender"

Description

Jennifer Rabold, a student, wrote an opinion criticizing Scott Shepard's defense of the Western Civilizations course. This article is Scott Shepard's response to that piece, in which he argues that a study of Western Civilizations includes those who fought for their rights later in history. He says that although Western Civilization "did not have many molders and shapers who weren't white men before the recent past" is "regrettable", but "historical fact." He argues that every minority is a member of a Western Civilization, and that there are no other civilizations that provides people equal justice under the law in the way that Western Civilizations does.
