Description

The widow of the former president of the University of Wisconsin, Mrs. Glenn Frank, published an article titled ‘Citadels of Snobbery’ in Pageant Magazine. In her article, she writes about the results of a “special investigation” regarding fraternities and sororities on college campuses across the nation. Mrs. Frank determines that the screening process by which Greek life organizations admit members “is responsible for innumerable personal tragedies.” There is particular emphasis on the religious discrimination that takes place, especially against Jewish students, whilst these organizations pick and choose their members. She urges parents across America to “wipe out fraternities and sororities” in order to allow democratic leaders to emerge from these institutions.
