Description An account of the resource This document is a letter sent by Joseph E. Nettles, Public Relations Director, to George M. Modlin, President of the University of Richmond, that was sent on May 5, 1952. A University of Richmond pennant was included in the letter. Nettles wrote to Modlin regarding a previous discussion about the University seal; Nettles attached a copy of a letter by Dr. Robert Ryland, Editor of the <em>Religious Herald</em> in 1844, that offered Modlin more information. Nettles believed that the "‘new look’ Spider is an abomination," possibly referencing Confederate Spidey.
