In addition, he claims that they take $13 billion a year from welfare. Citing to the Kennedy Institute, he says that the statistics used by Graeber are a "gross exaggeration of the number of illegal aliens in this country." He then argues that the types of jobs these immigrants are filling are not the types of jobs that the typical American would want and would "provide less income than welfare payments." Further, according to Wayne Cornelius, the director of a four-year Mexican migration study, notes that Mexican immigrants make far less use of social services than they contribute. Lucas attacks the idea of a warrantless search, saying that this power would lead to abuse. Finally, he ends his opinion by quoting the Statue of Liberty and connecting it to the plight of immigrating Mexicans.</text>

It does not note whether or not if Eng is a student at the University of Richmond. In her piece, Eng argues that the influence of Chinese culture in the U.S. has been largely ignored. She brings up several Chinese inventions that have huge importance in the U.S. -- and other Western cultures: ketchup, paper, gunpowder, silk, seismographs, and more. Eng argues that Americans have romanticised China and portrayed it in Hollywood and stereotypical, and sometimes offensive, ways. She concludes her piece with a quote, "But the Chinese who came to this country are extremely hardworking people. They've truly added a spice to the melting pot we call America."</text>

<text>Despite his family having immigrated to the United States from Europe in the late 19th century, the author of this essay states, “I’ve no claim to be an American.” He establishes that his family has helped the government because it has helped them, and establishes that he thus sees the world “in terms of what has tangibly helped and hindered” him. He relates this to the story “The Bear” by William Faulkner, which he uses as an allegory for his unwillingness to participate in the armed forces. This writer asserts that he would surely die in the Vietnam War because he is too weak and empathetic, as well as questions why his lack of traditionally masculine traits makes him less sensible and useful to society.</text>

<text>This article published in <em>The Collegian</em> highlights the University of Richmond's Hispanic Heritage Month. The article begins with a joke that student Brian Alas -- of Cuban-Irish descent -- receives due to his Cuban ancestry: Where is your tire? This joke refers to the stereotype that Cuban immigrants come to the U.S. in inner tubes. Both Alas and another student, Jeanette Lopez, were interviewed and discussed multiple topics. Both students agreed that they would rather be referred to by their hyphenated ethnicities (Cuban-American and Mexican-American), rather than "Hispanic." Furthermore, they would rather use the term "Latino" which specifically refers to Spanish speaking people and their descendants in North and South America. Despite this, the author continues to use the term Hispanic. Alas and Lopez describe their unique experiences as Latinos; Alas recounts how he was treated differently by fellow Latinos because of his white appearance while Lopez states that, because of political debates on illegal immigrants, her status has been questioned. In addition, Lopez also notes that she has faced judgement from all cultures for not being able to speak Spanish. The article goes on to compare the population sizes of black people and Latinos, relations between the two ethnic groups, and the desire to see more activities and celebrations of Latin-American heritage.</text>

Brunor Lasker was the associate editor of <em>The Survey</em> and worked with the Christian Way of Life studying race relations. The article says, "Among the other race situations discussed by Mr. Lasker was the Mexican difficulty in the South west, the Oriental Americans along the Pacific, the complex situation created by immigration in our large cities, anti-Semitism, and especially the white-negro complex." The article also mentions discussion surrounding the "American Indian." After the lecture, an open forum was held to discuss Virginia and their success in their treatment of the "negro problem." "It was the concensus of opinion that this was because of the friendly relation between the better class of whites and the better class of negroes."</text>
