Malone has been studying witchcraft for several years, mainly including palm readings and astrology. Malone explains that her role as Tituba helps “to set the mood of the play,” which takes place during the Salem Witch Trials in Massachusetts. She enjoys watching the reactions to her witchcraft usage as a way of understanding people. It is worth noting that this article and performance of <em>The Crucible</em> occur just one year after the University of Richmond admitted its first full-time black students in the fall of 1968.</text>
