An account of the resource
A multi-page story called "A Day in the Life" by an unnamed author in the 1979 yearbook depicts a version of daily life for students at UR. Written from a man's point of view, the story's language is embedded with misogyny and elements of rape culture. In one quote the author says, "The next class is on the girl's side, in North Court. I try to schedule at least one class each semester on the Westhampton side. As I am walking along I carefully note which girls are going into which dorms. This information could be useful later. Subtle, but effective." On another page describing his plans for later that night he says, "A fiendish plot entered my mind: I would get her drunk and take her back to my room! My room-mate was gone until Sunday-- Glorious."

In story called "Sometimes Living Next to a Creep Wouldn't Seem So Bad" in the 1979 yearbook, an unnamed author writes describes commuting student life. The story is embedded with heteronormative gender roles, sexism, and elements of rape culture. The author writes, "...the girl in Powhatan must wake up at 5:30 a.m. in order to get dressed, put on her makeup, drive to campus and be on time for her 8:15 class. Sometimes living next door to a creep wouldn't seem so bad after all..."

In this 1991 <em>Collegian</em> feature piece, "That's What You Think" the following question is asked to multiple University of Richmond students, "How big a problem do you think rape is on our campus?" Lori Euritt, a senior, states that in "comparison to other universities, we really don't have a problem" however she does think that it exists and "people need to be aware." Steve Willer, a sophomore says, "It can't be that big because nobody hooks up!" Meanwhile, Joanne Miller, a senior explains that it is "a much bigger problem than people think."
