Guines, administrative assistant to the Superintendent of the Richmond city school system. While unrelated to Guines's line of work, the program discussed the "Black Revolution in America: Perspectives Thereon.". Guines spoke about ways in which the Black community could become successful in the United States by helping themselves. Mao was one of two Chinese students on campus at the time. From Shanghai, China, Mao held a B.A. degree from the University of Shanghai (formerly Shanghai College). She gave a favorable impression of the college, stating: "Everything is different, but I like it." During World War II, Mao taught at two schools in Shanghai. The criteria for choosing the student would be determined by the Indian Embassy. The student would be considered a special student, and would belong to the senior class. The article mentions that this would be the third international student admitted to the college under the YWCA in the last decade. The first two were Pierrette Coljo from France (1950-52) and Velta Erdmanis from Latvia (1951-53). The student would be responsible for her travels to the school, but all other costs will be taken care of by the YWCA using money collected from the World University Service drive and the Westhampton Scholarship Fund.
