Nickerson focused on the identity of black people in communities, specifically on why white people did not understand the identity crisis of black people. Nickerson referenced black people feeling ashamed of the color of their skin because they have only had negative experiences with social conflicts regarding their skin color. Nickerson also stressed that the emphasis black communities have on "Black Power" is not a threat to the white community but a cry for racial awareness, and stated he did not agree with the "extremism" of Rap Brown and Stokley Carmichael, and that only 5% of the 22 million black people in the United States did. Nickerson also visited some religion courses, and the lecture was held at the Westhampton College sophomore class coffee house.</text>
