Brill was a renowned professor of psychology at New York University (NYU) and a well known psychoanalyst. In an interview he said, "Women's chief interest in life and man is to have children. No woman living was ever satisfied by a career alone." In the article, "No Man Fascinated By Wife In Later Life, Says Dr. Brill" published by <em>The Collegian</em> on October 26th, 1923, the professor explains his reasoning for the differences between men and women. Dr. Brill claims that women are more talkative than men because historically, women had to stay home with the children and talked a lot to entertain them. He said: "She talked without thinking and she still does. She retained childishness much longer than man." Additionally, Dr. Brill discusses the preservation of race standards and women's role in that effort. He says, "The so-called double standard of morality is also part of nature's scheme to help the race. Man is polygamous because he was created with stronger feelings, so he would increase the race. Woman was created with wicked feelings so she would be more selective and pick the best."
