Title
Article "Esau Presented Honorary Degree By Olgethorpe"
Description
Published in the 1943 April Fool's edition of The Collegian, this photo and caption portray athletic trainer Esau Brooks receiving an honorary degree in Osteopathy (physical training), from Oglethorpe University. The degree was conferred at the Greek Theater on campus. Brooks is described in the article as the "noted trainer of the University of Richmond spiders." Brooks worked at the University of Richmond from 1914 until his death in a fire in 1957, with the exception of World War I, where he served and received the French Croix de Guerre for battlefield action.
