Universal Education [Illustration]
Dublin Core
Title
Universal Education [Illustration]
The Web 1928
Description
This illustration shown at the beginning of the yearbook. Depicts a white matronly figure surrounded by four children of differing ethnicities: brown, Asian, Native American, and white. Part of a series of illustrations at the beginning of each section in the yearbook. Other illustrations include: Brotherhood, Individual Liberty, International Peace, Democracy, Industrial Harmony, Temperance, Moral Justice). Suggest a power dynamic between educators, illustrated as white, and pupils, illustrated as non-white children; where whiteness has the power and intellect to educate innocent, ignorant members of other races.
