The article, "Historical Pattern of Unequal Treatment Shown Towards Blacks" published by The Collegian August 8th, 1972 is a recount of a speech given by Dr. Letitia Brown. Dr. Brown discussed the discrimination free blacks faced from before the Civil War, and problems of institutional racism. Dr. Brown was the first black woman to earn a history PhD from Harvard University, and the first full-time black faculty member at George Washington University.
