In the years before 1962, YWCA would sponsor a foreign student to study at the University of Richmond. Its last scholar was a Muslim student from Turkey. In 1962, YWCA did not fund a foreign scholar to come to the United States but instead sent $500 to five students of which two were in Greece and three were in Japan.
