The article "Sabbath Glee Club To Sing Sunday" published by The Collegian on February 4th, 1936 announces the return of an all black choir to the University of Richmond's campus to perform at Vespers. The Richmond Sabbath Glee Club was formed to preserve black folk music and gained nationwide attention. "This organization of twenty-four Negro singers will offer a program of concert selections of popular Negro origin."
