Title
Letter from Martin L. Shotzberger to Charles H. Wheeler, III
Subject
Description
This document is a letter from University College Dean Martin L. Shotzberger to Charles H. Wheeler, III, the Treasurer at the University of Richmond. The letter was sent on September 4, 1964. Shotzberger and Dr. Moncure, whose position is not stated, wished to investigate the relationship of University College to the Board of Publications. According to Shotzberger, "the evening Student Advisory Committee is interested in representation in The Web." Students at University College paid into the Junior College Student Activities fund, which paid for student publications such as The Web, The Collegian, and The Messenger, but did not have access to publishing in these outlets. He and Moncure wanted Wheeler to inform them "as to the required procedure to permit our students to enjoy the benefits of student publications." At the time, black students were only accepted in some of the evening courses of University College.
