Title
Letter from Joseph E. Nettles to George M. Modlin
Subject
Description
This document is a letter sent by Joseph E. Nettles, Public Relations Director, to George M. Modlin, President of the University of Richmond, that was sent on May 5, 1952. A University of Richmond pennant was included in the letter. Nettles wrote to Modlin regarding a previous discussion about the University seal; Nettles attached a copy of a letter by Dr. Robert Ryland, Editor of the Religious Herald in 1844, that offered Modlin more information. Nettles believed that the "‘new look’ Spider is an abomination," possibly referencing Confederate Spidey.
