Memo from William H. Leftwich to E. Bruce Heilman
Dublin Core
Title
Memo from William H. Leftwich to E. Bruce Heilman
Subject
Description
This October 22, 1980 memorandum is from University of Richmond Vice President for Student Affairs William H. Leftwich to University of Richmond President Dr. E. Bruce Heilman. In the memo, Leftwich describes a conversation with University counsel, Eva Tashjian-Brown, who informed Leftwich that "the letter" going to the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights (OCR) had been received. Tashjian-Brown spoke with Raymond Hatcher of the OCR, who was pleased with the progress the University made in complying with "Title VI, Title IX, and Section 504 of the Handicapped," likely referring to structural accommodations for people with disabilities. Leftwich notes that Hatcher may still want "to come to campus for more or less a perfunctory visit" in order to close University of Richmond's OCR file. Leftwich explains Tashjian-Brown will accompany Hatcher on his October 30 visit to look at "the ramps we have built, curb cuts, etc."
