Subject
Description
In this letter Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW) Regional Civil Rights Director Eloise Severinson to University of Richmond President George M. Modlin, Severinson informs the President that she needs to hear back from him regarding the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In her previous letter to Modlin, she recommended six areas in which action on the part of the University of Richmond would meet compliance guidelines with the legislation. She also offers her assistance if the University has any difficulty complying with the recommendations. She gives the President until August 22 to respond. Attached is a letter to Severinson from Jane Pope, Modlin's secretary, noting Modlin is on vacation and will reply upon returning to campus on August 19th.
