Article "Young Says U.S. Has Upper Hand"

Title
Article "Young Says U.S. Has Upper Hand"
Subject
Description
This article covers Andrew Young's speech at the University of Richmond in November of 1980. In it, he argues that the United States has an upper hand over the Soviet Union in the Cold War because, although the USSR does have larger missiles, they are not in working order and the U.S.'s are more effective. He also says that American-made products and exports are highly superior to those made in the Soviet Union. Young was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement, a member of Congress, and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and future mayor of Atlanta. He resigned from his UN ambassadorship after it was revealed he engaged in secret discussion with the Palestine Liberation Organization.
