Opinion "Fraternities exploit women"
Dublin Core
Title
Opinion "Fraternities exploit women"
Subject
Description
This is an open letter written my Janet Kotler, a Business School faculty member, to fraternity members, their little sisters, and their potential rushes. What spurred this letter is a series of advertisements for party themes that degraded the little sisters. She started by addressing the fraternities, saying that as a faculty member, she has been asked to overlook their shortcomings as they are for the greater good. However, after seeing these party advertisements that included "Live entertainment as Kandy returns to KA" she had relinquished her support. Next she addressed the little sisters themselves by asking "what are you thinking of?" She exclaims that she couldn't keep advocating for gender equality on campus when the little sisters "participate in their own degradation." Finally, she addressed potential rushes saying "if you came to this University to use your minds, now is the time to start."
