This photograph, which accompanied information about various University of Richmond sporting events for the week, is captioned: "Spider Man is latest attraction at UR's home games, courtesy of the art students. Richmond's next home game is a week from tomorrow against Davidson." The photograph shows a painting of the Confederate spider mascot. The mascot is very tall, possibly more than 10 feet, and the panel is it painted on appears to be held on the side. A student runs through a door in the middle of the mascot's body.
The Confederate spider was the University's "unofficial" mascot between 1948 and the mid-1970s.
