Description
An advertisement in the Collegian for the Spider Club, a "booster organization of all sports at the University of Richmond," features the Confederate spider mascot at the four corners of the advertisement. The mascot, created by college shop proprietor Buddy Mayo, is wearing a Confederate uniform and hat emblazoned with "UR." This was an "unofficial" mascot of the University of Richmond between 1947, phased out in the 1970s.
