Article "Not Here: WC Leaders Rap Sororities"

As the existence of sororities is questioned at other universities, Westhampton College students provide personal opinions and statements regarding the absence of sororities on their own campus. The dean of students, alongside many other organization leaders, believes that The University of Richmond is an institution that is too small in size to play host to greek organizations. Student government president, Nancy McCulloch, and sophomore class president, Jane Pitts, both relay their beliefs on sororities at the university. They believe that, “it is better to have a common spirit and unity than a division,” in addition to the lack of time that girls would have because of other organizations that are already present at the school. Leaders of the Westhampton College unanimously agree that, “the cliquishness of sororities tends to break up friendships rather than promote them.”
