Title
Article "Lack of Student Interest, Land Prevent UR Sororities"
Subject
Description
Director of student activities, Max Vest, believes that there is a lack of student interest when it comes to sororities at the University of Richmond. He states that he has “never had an inquiry about sororities from students.” Dean of Westhampton College, Stephanie Bennett, states that she prefers sororities to “the little sisters program of fraternities,” and already has goals in mind if sororities were to appear on campus. Vest and Bennett disagree on the topic of Greek life housing due to the House Rules created by the Board of Trustees. Vest believes that sororities will struggle to adhere to the House Rules and thinks that “dormitory halls or floors could be designated for sororities.” Bennett believes that sororities and fraternities should have the same facilities and be held to the same standards.
