Description

This Collegian article, written in 1929, focuses on a collection of letters, notes, and autographs given to the university library from Dr. J. L. M. Curry and Miss Ella M. Thomas. Dr. Curry was a member of the United States Congress and the Confederate Congress, as well as an English Professor at the University. Miss Ella M. Thomas is described as the daughter of a former Philosophy Professor. Many of the papers are from the Civil War Period, and from statemen of the old South, from Davis, Stevens, Tombs, and more. The articles states that ,"the most interesting part of the exhibit" is a case containing letters from General Robert E. Lee to his son Rooney about his duty to his country, as well as other letters from "southern leaders" including "Stonewall" Jackson, Joseph K. Johnson, J. E. B. Stuart and A.P. Hill.
