Description
This article, written in 1943, details the festivities of Westhampton College's May Day, which is run by the sophomore women. The college gym will be decorated as an old Southern Plantation. In order to add to the atmosphere of the theme, "twelve college sophomores, dressed in Civil War costume, will serve as hostesses during the evening." The article also describes the tradition of the May Day Queen, who is a member of the senior Westhampton class. There is a large image featured in the article, depicting several Westhampton women dancing in preparation for the celebration.
