Article "UR staff and students combat trash in Central Dining Facility"

Description

In this article, representatives from the Food Services staff and the University of Richmond student body attempt to combat the trash problem at the Central Dining Facility according to Dee Hardy, associate director of University Food Services. Specifically, the group will address spills, food dumped on the carpet, knocked-over chairs and the abandonment of trays. Anne Balducci, a line server in the dining hall, says, "I don't know whether they (the students) do it just to make us clean it up or they just don't want to be bothered themselves.” On Oct. 16 there was a dinner with University Food Services and representatives from the fraternities and University Student Union to address the increasing amount of complaints from students, faculty members and families about the dining hall’s messy state. One suggestion included designating certain areas of the dining halls to specific fraternities and groups, “so that students will have more pride in their area." An accompanying photograph shows a messy table covered in cups, plates, bowls, and trays, spilling food.
