The Lambda Coalition and their spokesperson, Matthew Beams (‘99), work to spread awareness throughout the University of Richmond campus about the treatment of the LGBTQ community. To “circumvent mistreatment of homosexual students,” the coalition hangs up posters and provides solidarity as a group to reach out to others around the campus community. Beams states that the Lambda Coalition uses the Civil Rights Movement as a as a model, “... as a start for equality."
