Opinion "Shield a Symbol of Responsibility"
Dublin Core
Title
Opinion "Shield a Symbol of Responsibility"
Subject
Description
In response to a Collegian article written by Westhampton College student Taylor Daniel (‘06) claiming that the Richmond shield was a symbol of hate related to the Croatian flag from 1941-1945, Richmond College student Patrick Elgin (‘06) refutes that declaration. Instead, he asserts that the University of Richmond is full of individuals with integrity and believes that the Croatian genocide, in relation to the Croatian flag, has no connections whatsoever with the students, faculty, and staff on campus. Elgin further emphasizes that although the Croatian flag may look similar to the Richmond shield, the designs could solely be a coincidence and has nothing to do with the symbolism of both items.
