Opinion "A Future for ROTC"
Dublin Core
Title
Opinion "A Future for ROTC"
Subject
Description
This is an opinion piece advocating for the University of Richmond to integrate in order to save its ROTC Program. The Board of Trustees was faced with the choice to either integrate or lose its ROTC program. In the article, the student urges the Board of Trustees to integrate, citing the immorality of racial discrimination, the benefits integration will have on current students, and the benefits of the ROTC program. The student also addresses potential concerns brought up by others, such as the role of the federal government in its ROTC and academic program. Opponents expressed concern that the government’s role in the program could cause the University to lose its independence and will cause the University to be subject to the whims of the federal government.
