Editorial "Safety need not be limited to women"
Dublin Core
Title
Editorial "Safety need not be limited to women"
Subject
Description
This is an editorial by a male student arguing for a safety shuttle available for men after parties, similar to those offered to women. He criticized columnist Kirsten Heller's statement that "men (at least on this campus) are not the victims of assault" by referencing the stabbing of a senior male, and argues that men and women have about the same odds against a knife or a gun. He says the safety shuttle exists for women "not because women are assaulted all the time at UR, but because the possibility exists," and says that that "preventative measure" should not be limited to women. His main concern is drunk driving, and says that a similar shuttle for men would curb drunk driving without encouraging alcohol abuse.
