Published in the Westhampton Class Notes section of the Alumni Bulletin, a photograph depicts two young boys raising the third national flag of the Confederacy (the "Blood-Stained Banner") at their home in Lears Glen, near Annapolis, MD. Their names are indicated as Robert Edward Lee Lears and Thomas Jonathan Jackson Lears, sons of Margaret Baptist Lears (WC '33). The children are noted as descendents from prominent figures including Confederate General A. P. Hill, and the Rev. Edward Baptist, founder of Richmond College.
