Article "Faludi to speak out on the feminist struggle"

Description

This 1992 Collegian article is describing the relevance and message of Susan Faludi, an acclaimed journalist and feminist who spoke at the University of Richmond. At the time the article was written, Faludi had not yet come to campus but the article explains the main message behind her book, Backlash: The Undeclared War Against Women." In this book, Faludi discusses how the media has portrayed contradictory views of women that have caused backlash against their fight for equality. As a result of the media, many post-feminist women "rejected the equal rights movement and gave up career goals to stay at home." The article interviewed many members of the Women Involved in Living and Learning (WILL) such as Holly Blake and Elizabeth Hardy, who had nothing but positive things to say about Faludi's work.
