Letter to the Editor "Faludi's Message Deserved Better Coverage From Collegian"
Dublin Core
Title
Letter to the Editor "Faludi's Message Deserved Better Coverage From Collegian"
Subject
Description
Written by sophomore Gina Davis, this 1992 Collegian article was written in response to the Collegian not covering an on campus talk give by Susan Faludi, a renowned feminist and 1991 Pulitzer Prize winner. Despite the fact that the talk had the largest attendance of the year, the newspaper did not cover the talk. Davis begins her opinion piece highlighting the "backlash" that many feminists get due to the media stereotypes that are placed upon then as "bra-burning, family-hating, lesbians." Davis expresses her disappoint in newspaper for not covering Faludi's discussion, and points out that this adds to the backlash, as students are not able to learn about what feminism truly stands for.
