Title
Article "Preview of Carnival Good Times"
Subject
Description
This article from The Richmond Collegian announces the University Carnival, which was to take place in the Millhiser gymnasium at 7:30 PM. The announcement notes that 800 students attended the Carnival in the previous year, and that, as in 1939, the proceeds from the 1940 Carnival would go to "the alumni fund for the proposed student center building." Different booths would give out prizes, and many campus organizations would perform, including all 11 fraternities, the student governments of Richmond College and Westhampton College, and other campus organizations. The University Players presented "The Evolution of Necking." Accompanying this article is a series of photos from the 1939 Carnival, featuring students dressed as Native Americans as well as students in blackface.
