The Missing Link [Short Story]
The Messenger, Volume XLVIII
Page 37 (1 of 8)
Description
In this eight-page short story, the author, J.B. Kincanon, offers a fictional murder and criminal mystery. The author tells the fictional story through one of his character's name Bill Slater and his stay with a family in Big Rock, West Virginia. The criminal of this story is an ambiguous black man that terrorized the Big Rock county. Throughout the story, the author describes the black man in derogatory manners, such as using the words "gorilla," "ape," and "negro". The title of this story, "The Missing Link," also gives further evidence of racism.
