Description

This article discusses a student variety show put on by dramatic director Professor Alton W. Williams. The show was said to include a performance by Professor N. Wilford Skinner, who was to lead the event and perform acrobatic tricks. The "hillbilly band" Snuffy Smith and the Mountaineers were said to perform as well. Members included: Louis Rubin, Bill Garvey, Nelms Kule, Omar Mardan, and Charles Zacharias. The Westhampton Chorus was also to perform under the guidance of Alma (Bitsy) Rosen along with Fred Gindard and the Jive Eight. Frances Crowder performed a monologue, and Fred Clark performed a margic act. Felicty Apperly and Company preformed a melodrama followed by the Richmond College Glee club led by Tucker Armstrong. Harol Atkinson's moder burlesque was next with Bill Garvey as auctioneer. Gloria Tyler performed a dance specialty, and Evermond Hardee sang a ballod writen by Louis Rubin. Next was a "Blackface Act" by Reba Booker and Louis Miller. The article states that the act "is said to have a good chance of setting the old time Minstrel Business on its feet again." Ruth Van Ness was next followed by acrobatics from Professor Skinner. The event ended with a performance from the Richmond College Glee Club.
