Article "Society Elects New Officers for 1944-45"

Description

This article announces the election results for the S.C. Mitchell literary society. Lawrence Burnette, Fletcher Stiers, Andrew Sullivan, Reynolds Rackett, Charles Wainman, Thomas Fletcher, O.J. Graham, and Lincoln Baxter were placed in their various offices. The meeting also included an amendment to the society's constitution. Previously, there had been a motion that banned the group's discussion about the "racial problem." Now, the President may interrupt and discontinue any conversation that does not further the agenda of the meeting. Additionally, the results of the inter-society debate were discussed. The question had been in regards to the abolition of segregated public transportation, and S.C. Mitchell Literary club forfeited two of the four debates because, despite the members of the group generally agree that such segregation should not be abolished, they could not provide a team that would argue for that point.
